What we keep about you
Last updated 5 October 2026
Nothing here is hidden. You are welcome to walk the property on a Sunday, and you are welcome to walk this page any day. Here is everything this website records, how long it keeps it, and who else sees it.
The visitor book
The web server writes down every request it answers: your IP address, the date and time, the page asked for (including anything after a "?" in the address), whether it was found, how large the reply was, the page that sent you here, and your browser's user-agent string. A separate error log notes requests that went wrong, which can include the same address and IP.
The book is used to keep the site running and to keep it standing. Software on the server reads it and closes the gate, for 24 hours, on addresses that ask for things no visitor to this site asks for. Each day's pages are kept for seven days and then burned. They are not shared and not combined with anything else.
The Farm Store, Jobs and comments
Everything in the store happens on the page in front of you. The basket, the HUTCH code and the "Place Order" button send nothing to anyone; reload the page and the basket is empty again. The résumé button sends nothing either. Nobody walks down to the mailbox, because nothing arrives there. The customer comments are written in advance; there is no form for adding one.
What comes in from other farms
To build the page, your browser fetches a few things from outside companies' servers. Each of them receives your IP address, your user-agent string, and usually the address of this page, and their own privacy policies apply.
- The Vollkorn and Jost typefaces, from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com).
- React and ReactDOM, the code that draws the page, from unpkg.com, on every visit.
Advertising
Google ads may appear on this site. Where they do, your browser loads Google's ad script, and Google, along with other advertising companies it works with, uses cookies to choose ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other sites. You can turn off ads personalised in this way: for Google, in Google's My Ad Center; for other participating companies, at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. Google describes what it does with this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Cookies
The site's own pages set no cookies and keep nothing in your browser. Any cookies come from Google's ads, described above, when ads are shown.
Asking about your records
The visitor book is burned within seven days, so there is nothing here older than a week to look up or remove. For anything Google holds about you, Google's own tools above apply. Shady Acres has no telephone. The pigs have asked us to say they are sorry about that.
Changes
If what this site records changes, this page will change with it, and so will the date at the top.
